Free “Culture Shock 2: Black Market Edition” Download
Toronto’s very own Culture Shock Trio (Baba Kahn, Lomaticc and Sunny Brown) are giving up their album for a free download.
The album has a decent selection of tracks ranging across various genres. My favourite tunes have to be their older ones (“Tonight” and “Slip and Fall”) which have both been remastered and packaged in this download.
Hit up 747records.com for the download.
Or hit up the link Baba Kahn has provided here.
And just for good measure, another link here.

Free Download – Daku feat. Tej Gill “Roll With Me”
The Greater Toronto Area is represented here in a free download.
Daku, aka Aman Sangha, is set to release his mixtape “Dak-Who?” and he’s giving away this track.
The song features the Punjabi vocals of Tej Gill, whom some of you may remember from his work with Brampton native E=MC, and most famously on their track “Tere Mere.”
I actually went to school with Tej Gill, and I remember he was always humming songs to himself, and going by this track and “Tere Mere,” his voice has changed a bit.
This song seems to lend it self to a new trend these days. It used to be that most tracks would feature a verse of English rhymes but still be dominated by Punjabi vocals, but now it seems there is an equal amount, if not more emphasis on the English vocals, and using Punjabi vocals to accentuate the it.
This track has got a chill vibe to it, with a decent beat, and Tej Gill does have a good chorus.

Roach Killa “Yaara Dil Dara” Video
A lot of Canadian content on this track.
First off we got Roach Killa spitting on the first track off his upcoming album “The Revolution.” We also have Canadian singer Shahid Ali Khan providing the chorus to the track, and finally we have Jazz Virk directing the video.
Production is handled by Surinder Rattan, who has done some work in the past with Roach.
Although I’m not feeling Roach’s vocals, I am digging the concept, the locations and the cinematography of the video, as well as the chorus of the track. Shahid has done an awesome job conveying his lyrics, and I think that would be the one thing that would bring me back to listen to this track repeatedly.
The album is set to release some time this month. For more info, hit up Roach Killa’s MySpace Page
Swami “Sugarless” Video
Here is the video for Swami’s track “Sugarless.”
There originally wasn’t a plan to create a video for this track, but since the track blew up so huge on the world scale, they couldn’t deny the fans.
The band went with live footage of shows they performed the track at in the UK and here in Canada, with a predominant amount taken from their show from this night.
If that’s not enough, I am spotted in the background, albeit a bit blurred in a few scenes. (How’s that for a debut?)
The album “53431″ is available at the following outlets;
Baba Kahn/Sunny Brown/Lomaticc “Bombay Bo” Video & “Bootleg” Download
Check out the Baba Kahn/Sunny Brown/Lomaticc Video of “Bombay Bo.”
I’m not into the song, but the video has a pretty wicked vibe to it, and it showcases the club vibe in the T-Dot.
“Culture Shock 2:Blackmarket” is out on September 30, 2009. But you can download the track for free here.
Also, there is now a “Bootleg Mix” available to download courtesy of Baba Kahn, additionally featuring Blizz and Rochester.
Download here.

Old School Sunday – “Taj Mahal’s Megamix” & “Dhol Crawlers”
This weeks Old School Sunday keeps it homegrown.
Representing Gerrard India Bazaar in the city of Toronto, DJ Taj Mahal (who owns Taj Mahal Audio Centre) put together this album in 1993.
The first track, an eight minute megamix, contains songs from a variety of UK bands and singers, blended with some of the best Hip Hop beats of that time.
Taj Mahal’s Megamix
I have to be honest, mostly because my sister is sitting right here (and it was indeed her cassette purchase.) I had a hard time digging music like this because of what I thought was a lack of creativity on the part of DJ’s back then in North America, who would release popular Bhangra tracks smashed with a popular Hip Hop beat. Maybe I’ve matured (unlikely) or there just isn’t anything good out there right now (more likely) that I can appreciate this track even more now.
All in all there were five tracks on the cassette, and since I’m digging the music on this next track as well, because it’s got two banging samples, let’s make this a double dose.
Dhol Crawlers (Housing)
Pama Sarai – “Mele Vich & Aaja Pardes Ton (Medley)” Video
Local man Pama Sarai aka Precious P is set to release his new album, “Munde Punjabi” on the Planet Recordz label.
Details are sketchy for vocalists on the album. As you can see Kuldeep Toor and Surjit Sagar are in the video. I also know Master Saleem is on the soon to be released album as well.
The video features the tracks “Mele Vich” and “Aaja Pardes Ton.”
It’s good to see Pama is still in the game. He’s been around for ages! In fact this gives me an idea for an Old School Sunday…
