Old School Sunday – Sahara “Bolian”
I find it interesting looking back at the inlay cards of some of my cassettes and CDs.
When I was a kid, I’d read the contents of the inserts and most names wouldn’t phase me, but looking at some of the names mentioned now, and you start to learn some interesting things.
This weeks Old School Sunday is Sahara’s “Bolian.” The album is titled “Let Loose” and it was released in 1994.
It’s a long song, coming in at around 8 minutes, but some of the verses are rather amusing.
“Chacha tha Chachi gaye Bazaar” is definitely a part of the song that I like singing along to.
This was Sahara’s second album after their debut “Intemptation.” I really liked “Let Loose,” and Sahara went on to do big things with RDB in the 2000′s.
Going back to the inlay card; it’s almost unbelievable that Johnny Zee produced the album, I had no clue he had it in him. I liked the contemporary/fused beats with the traditional ones. Also, Sunil Kalyan was in charge of the Indian percussion on the album. Coincidentally, I posted about both these guys in the past few weeks.
Also, Sahara thanks Tony of the “Untouchables.” I had no idea the Untouchables music label was even formed back in 1994, because Untouchables blew up with the addition of RDB to the label in 2000.
