Malkit Singh “Nach Billo” Video
Malkit Singh’s new album “Billo Rani” is out now, so check out the premiere song from the album.
Featuring the production of Rishi Rich and the aide of Mumzy Stranger on the track, I still feel like after all these years, Malkit’s voice is still on point.
You have to give the man credit, for always mixing it up as far as whom he chooses to produce for him is concerned – There is also a track on the album featuring production from PBN that also has quite a catchy beat.
Just as I give credit to Malkit for reaching out to Rishi Rich to vary up his songs, I do have to say that Rishi’s production has virtually remained the same since as far back as I can remember. It sounds like all his beats are the byproduct of every beat he previously created. Now don’t get me wrong, Rishi is one of the top producers in the industry, and we know the dude actually does the work himself, but still, a little progression is all I’m asking for.
Old School Sunday – Malkit Singh “Gur Naal Ishq Mitha”
Growing up in the UK, I witnessed Malkit perform live only once, and it was a memorable experience (in more ways than one.)
This video is from around the mid-eighties, and it’s Malkit doing his thing in Jalandhar, Panjab.
“Gur Naal Ishq Mitha” was released on the “Nach Gidde Vich” album in 1986. When it was first released, I remember it caused quite a craze on the dance floor, and let me tell you people, anybody that is willing to dance to a song that is originally over ten minutes long is just that…CRAZY! (Guilty as charged.) My brother even typed out the lyrics to the song, and when typed out is used in the same sentence as the 1980′s, that means on a typewriter!
With countless albums and songs released by the man, this is the track of all tracks for Mr. Golden Star. It’s as back to basics as you can get for UK Bhangra.
