Bups Saggu “Ik Gera”
There used to be a time where I would like every song sang by Shin. Those songs come few and far in between nowadays. However, this one produced by Bups Saggu just had me vibing enough to warrant a post.
PBN “Sadi Gal Hor Ya”
Despite similar sounding beats, say what you will about “the Hitmaker”, because his songs will virtually always get you on the dance floor.
This song is no exception.
My question however, is Hepz saying “fitteh moo” to Shin?

Free Download – DJ KSR “Forever” Mixtape
I know I’ve been away from the blog a bit, but I think this will more than make up for it. BIG time!
Released last month, DJ KSR’s Forever Mixtape is by far the best bhangra mixtape I have heard. It covers the key genres, and the mixing creativity is sublime. Anyone that comes up with mixing LMFAO’s “Shots” with DJ Vix’ “Ah Chak Bottal” followed by Kaka’s “Daru Peeke” is Aces in my books.
Artists covered range from the following:
Imran Khan, Diljit, Sarbjit Cheema, Malkit, JK, Heera, Dark MC, Kaka, Miss Pooja, House of Pain, Drake, Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, Beyonce, Jay-Z and some Bollywood tunes I’m not that aware of for obvious reasons. (Trust me this list is the tip of the iceberg.)
Download here.
My favourite part (about 11 minutes in) is this Preet Mani track “Akh Mastani.” The dude is from the Toronto area, and I really could use some more info on him as well.
DJ KSR has been on the scene for 7 years, and he will be releasing his first official album this summer. For more info on him, check out his facebook page.
P.S. You’re welcome.
Purchase “Unity (Asi Haan Punjabi)”
Last week I posted about the charity project all of the old school UK Bhangra artists were getting together to do.
Well here is the link to purchase from iTunes.

Old School Sunday – Unity “Asi Haan Punjabi” (Behind the Scenes)
This week’s Old School Sunday video is from two weeks ago. Yep, two weeks ago.
Every year, the BBC in the UK, host a charity event “Children in Need.” They do the whole Telethon bit, and this year, it’ll have an old school UK Bhangra flavour.
“Unity,” a whole bunch of old school artists, have got together and produced a song for the benefit, and as you can see below, a video is in the works.
Going by the number of artists associated with the song, I figured today would be as good as time as any for this video. Check out my favourite band growing up – Apna Sangeet – steal the spotlight.
I heard the song on BBC Radio this past week, and it’s not exactly a dance floor filler, but it is a great track, and I can tell you that Shin (DCS) ripped it.
The “Unity” performance on Television takes place on November 20, 2009. As I get more details, I’ll keep you all updated.
Old School Sunday – Hunterz feat. Shin (DCS) “Tu Pateya”
This video goes back to a time when Hunterz wasn’t singing yet, and Shin from DCS had some hair.
“Tu Pateya,” is from Hunterz solo-producing debut album “No Limits,” released in 1999.
Old School Sunday – DCS “Nashe Diye Band Bothale”
When I was in the UK in 1996, this track was one of the three musical things that stood out on that trip.
I had the chance to go to a mela, and the first thing that stood out was Balwinder Safri performing live, and man the guy could sing! His live act was awesome.
After Safri had cleared the stage, Boy George came on, and that stuck out because there was a mass exodus of people from the stage area.
The mela had tents set up with DJ’s spinning in them, each with a different type of music, and we obviously had to go to the Bhangra one. The entire tent was a makeshift club/dance floor, and I remember this track coming on – it was new to me, but the entire crowd (including me) just went berserk.
The track is off the 1995 DCS album “Eat Rhythm.” Out of all the UK Bhangra bands, I still say that Shin’s voice is at the top. I said this before, but the dude sure sings a lot of songs about the liquor.
The band also has one of the best web sites for a Bhangra band. Check it out at dcs-band.com
Also, if you’re interested, DCS just released an album titled “The Live Session.” 14 classic DCS tracks all performed and recorded live with the full band.
