“Singh is Kinng” Video
They royally effed up this video.
Here was an opportunity to do something big.
I think I can name off the handful of times any turbaned fella has appeared in a Hip Hop video:
Cocoa Brovaz – Won on Won
Wu Tang Clan – Ice Cream
Notorious BIG – Mo Money Mo Problems
Artistically speaking, you can say that having a video featuring Snoop is a chance to make a mark. Chance squandered.
If comedy was their intent, they failed.
Barring the actual concept of the video, even the quality is lacking. It’s rumoured that Snoop dug into his pockets and forked over a million dollars for the video. If that’s what you can get for a million bucks, then obviously I need to get myself into the video making business.
Where didn’t they fail? Snoop Dogg can theoretically add a billion people to his fan base. RDB can say they were the pioneers of linking up with someone as big as Snoop, and probably have opened up some new doors for themselves. Even the Producers of the movie have generated enough hype to possibly make this the largest grossing movie ever in Bollywood.
As a fan of both Snoop and RDB, I’d expect a little something-something as well.
They failed.
