Looks like we have our first substantial release of 2010, with the release of Gtown Desi’s “1134.”
The album quietly went on sale yesterday on the VIP Records website, and I’m sure it will soon reach iTunes.
For now, have a listen to promos of seven of the thirteen tracks that will be on the album.
Tor Vehka (Remix) – Jaswant Heera
Type of Guy – Nikitta
Sharaab – Poonam & Ramesh
Naal Nachna (Remix) – Jasa J
Lok Tath – Jaswant Heera
Why You Lie – Charlene
Tor Vehka – Jaswant Heera
Lok Tath is by far my favourite tune. I thought Drum n Bass had been long dead in the Bhangra genre, but with this track, it’s back in a big way.
The PR release for the album had stated that the album had been in the works for 5 years, and after listening to Tor Vehka, I realised, that it had already been released in 2005 on Pure Desi Vol. 1.
With the release of the album, came the release of the video. Take a look at the video premiere of “Peerh.”
The album can be purchased from VIP Records.
I’ve been waiting on this track for a minute, since I heard it on the Bobby Friction show.
The song has a clear cut message, but for me, the electro feel of the beat is just my speed.
Turn this one up and enjoy the visuals.
And to the dude that questioned me only liking Asian tracks with a Tumbi on it, here’s your answer.
Purchase the track here.
Check out the above promo for Aman Sandhu’s debut single “Koka Nakhro Da.”
I think it’s safe to say, this is the first good free download for Bhangra lovers in 2010 no?
Aman Sandhu was born and raised in Chandigarh, India, and has recently hooked up with a Toronto-based producer (who is also making his debut with this track) named sOe.

The video blends an urban vibe with his Punjabi lyrics. Check the video below.

DJ Tally hooks up with Nirmal Sidhu on his first ever video for his single “Nakrah.”
Standard Notorious Jatt type of music hunna? Albeit, I like it a bit better than the Danny C track.
The single can be purchased exclusively on iTunes on February 26th, 2010.
Danny C releases his first video for his single “Fateh” featuring Sarvjeet Kaur.
Standard issue Sound Pipe.
If you’re feeling the track, get it from iTunes.

Ravi Bal quietly continues to do his thing, with another collabo with Surjit Khan (who had one of the most underrated albums of 2009 with “Headliner.”) And when I say “his thing,” I mean churning out toe tapping desi beats.
The track is your traditional desi fix, which sometimes gets me out of my chair, but what did it for me on this tune, was the Goodfellas (My fave gangster movie by the way) quote – it doesn’t take much these days.
I’m not entirely sure why I’m posting this video.
Yes, both Roach and Blitz have done well for themselves with the artists they have collaborated with, but their work still doesn’t appeal to me on a grand scale.
If anything, I posted this video because of the production. Surinder Rattan also produced “Yaara Dil Daara” for Roach, which also was a cool sounding song. I love seeing how innovative producers can get with eastern instruments to produce a western song. So bravo Surinder Rattan, you’ve done it again.
(Big up for representing T-Dot, with the clips down Spadina, and Dundas Sqaure)
