Geet Zaildar and DJ H link up for Billo Nach Nach Ke.
I can’t place my finger on why, but it’s not a track I’m running out to get.
Sad news coming from the UK yesterday, as one of the greatest Bhangra lyricists passed away, after succumbing to a fight with pancreatic cancer.
I extend my thoughts and sympathy to the Jassal family.
My apologies for not posting the last little while. I’ll be playing “ketchup” the next few days. Seriously.
Here is Jeet’s debut video of his track “Zara Bachke.”
For you folks not familiar with Jeet in North America, a little back info before you go ahead and watch the video.
Jeet was one of the members of “The Family,” a Channel 4 reality-based television show based in the UK.
The series displayed his creative side, in which he acts in plays. But what got him attention, was his singing skills at home. Based on that, The Sound Pipe Records decided to extend him a recording contract.
The video is kind of corny, and if you haven’t watched the series, you won’t understand all the nuances of the video eg) Jeet’s drinking escapades and hiding it from his wife, Kaki.
I know I haven’t really sold the show well, but if you can, try and watch it, because Jeet wasn’t even the main person featured on it.
This is just too much.
Mani Sangra, one half of the duo that made up Sangra Vibes passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2009.
According to his brother Gopi Sangra, Mani had been in the hospital for three weeks battling against Encephalitis (acute inflammation of the brain.) During his treatment, his blood pressure had dipped too low for his heart to handle.
Sangra Vibes had released one album in 2005 – “Unleashed” – and were set on releasing another some time during this year.
At the time, the album was somewhat of a underrated classic. The following tune featuring Manak-E is a glimpse of the production talent the duo exemplified.
Sangra Vibes – Ranjha Raji
My heartfelt condolences, thoughts and prayers go out to Mani’s family and friends.
Bazaar Records, the label that the late Kaka Bhaniawala was signed to, released a statement about the untimely death of the singer.
Kaka Bhaniawala (April 5, 1971 – April 12, 2009)
This press release was never envisaged to be something which would have to be released by Bazaar Records on behalf of the talented artist Kaka Bhaniawala, but with the most heartfelt regret we can confirm that Kaka Parji aged 38 years has sadly passed away at around 4.30am India time on Sunday 12th April 2009 at the Ludhiana General Hospital. Time was taken in the release of this official document to establish the facts into this untimely death.
Kaka Bhaji died from complications with his liver as he was suffering from Jaundice. Whilst undergoing a routine blood transfusion as part of his rehabilitation, he became infected and subsequently passed away. We urge Kaka’s fans and commentators to avoid speculation about his tragic death and instead ask that your thoughts and prayers focus on his family particularly his widow and three young children.
Kaka whose real name was Santokh Singh gained his nickname from his mother who speaks of his youthfulness and his childlike qualities, as he was a person who was constantly laughing and joking. These are but a few qualities that we his friends and family will sadly miss.
Kakas relation was not one of a artist and a record label but more of a brother, colleague and friend. Nothing can begin to describe the devastation of his death on all here at Bazaar Records.
Kakas contribution to the bhangra scene both in India and here in the UK is unquestionable with hits such as “Daru Peekeh Peekeh”, “Shad Tih Aashiqui”, “Nachna Ondha Nai”, Sahnevaal Chounk” and his recent hit “Jawani”. Kaka recognised his talent and elevation of a bhangra superstar was attributed to first and foremost his fans, the bhangra industry family, the love of the all mighty, but above all else the support of his beloved family.
Kaka who was always based in Coventry when in the United Kingdom, described Coventry as his Pind away from his Pind. He spent many hard hours in the UK preparing for his long awaited forthcoming album “Note Varna” to be released. Due to this unforeseen tragedy this albums release is to be delayed as we are now preparing a tribute album and a series of shows with the help of all those in the Bhangra Industry starting with the first on Friday 15th May @ Pearl Suite Birmingham.
All profits from these events, proceeds and donations will be formally given to the family of Kaka Bhaniawala as our way of saying thank you for the time and memories you have left us all.
If you are made aware of other shows claiming to pass on proceeds to the family of Kaka Bhaniawala, please contact Bazaar Records on 07958 735231 to verify if it is a legitimate event.
Sad news coming from India today, as I heard from multiple sources that Kaka Bhaniawala passed away in his sleep.
The world has lost a top notch vocalist. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.
More info to follow.
UPDATE:
Kaka Bhaniawala was suffering from Jaundice and died in Ludhiana Hospital after complications due to a blood transfusion.
The funeral will be held in Punjab tomorrow.
I had to upgrade my software, and now have incurred some probs. Hopefully all will be solved quickly.

The blog is not dead.
I’m not dead.
What was dead, was my modem. Christmas Eve can you believe it? (So much for online Boxing Day shopping) and posting of course. Santa must have known I was naughty this year.
That being said, hope y’all are having mad wicked Holidays. I’ll be here on the flip with some posts.
Peace, Love and Happy New Year!
I’ve created a page of 2008 Releases. The most recent release is at the top. As I get time, I will highlight the best songs on each album.
